Some MAS apps (including the Affinity ones) offer family sharing, so this can include apps purchased with a different family member's Apple ID. If your ISP doesn't charge extra for exceeding a data limit, it may be worth considering the MAS version so you can use the feature built into the OS to automatically download & install purchases made on other Macs in the background. After that, it would open normally.Īs for downloads, IIRC all the Affinity Store app downloads are hosted from US servers while MAS ones are hosted from a variety of Apple servers around the world, so depending on where you are in the world, the MAS versions may take considerably less time to download than the Affinity Store ones. On the first run on the second Mac, it was necessary to authenticate by providing the same Apple ID & password used for the original purchase. I have not tried this with recent Mac OS versions so it may not still work, but it used to be that for Mac App Store purchases, it was possible to copy the app from one Mac's Application folder to that of another. Or rather, no separate downloading stage: there is still a download involved for each installation, and you have to be signed in to the MAS to do it.
